In this exciting one-day workshop, Cindy Akers, one of the top animation casting/voice directors in Canada will put you through the paces by throwing you into the world of animation voice over.
The day will involve gaining an understanding of breaking down an animation script and creating fully dimensional characters, beyond the voice. Learn how to assess what the clients are looking for in this demanding, competitive end of the acting arena.
Voice acting is among the most challenging forms of performance as there is NOTHING to hide behind, no posturing or physical tricks! This will be a hands-on workshop in creating 3 dimensional characters, solely with voice acting.
In approaching the character descriptions, illustrations and copy she will show you how to go beyond the obvious and make choices that bring the character to life. Cindy will teach you how to dissect the project. Who is the client, who is the audience, what is the genre? Is this a pre-school project or an adult oriented prime time project. ? Is it for Cartoon Network and for giggles or for PBS and educational? Noted for her wonderful manner in working with actors and clients, Cindy promises an educational day and loads of fun. Learn from someone who knows the business inside and out and enjoys sharing it with actors.

Cindy is one the best animation voice directors in the world. She has worked on a Who’s Who of movies and series for Moonscoop including the “Zhu Zhu Pets” stereoscopic trilogy. I have no hesitation in recommending her to others!
Jacqueline Moody – Executive Producer, Head Writer at Moody Studios (New York). Cindy is a gifted voice director with dead-on instincts. She has tremendous talent for getting the most out of any actor she works with, an excellent intuition about what her clients want (or, conversely, needs). All of this is wrapped in the most positive and professional demeanors! You will get the best quality possible working with her, and have a ball doing it. I can’t wait to work with her again
Ian Freedman – Animation Director – Transformers – Rescue ‘Bots at DHX Media (Vancouver).
I had the opportunity to work with Cindy while Directing on “Zeke’s Pad” and found it to be a rewarding and thoroughly enjoyable experience. Cindy brings a positive energy to the room providing the actors space to explore their rolls without losing focus. If there was ever doubt about a performance or a piece of dialogue Cindy was always able to provide a creative solution. I have no hesitation in recommending Cindy as a voice Director and hope to have the opportunity to work with her again.
Rose-Ann Tisserand – Creative Producer Flying Kraken Creative Studios, Inc. (Vancouver).
As a Supervising Producer in the Animation Industry, it is a pleasure to recommend Cindy Akers of Page Sixteen Productions. In my position with Bardel Entertainment, I have hired Cindy to cast and voice direct one feature film and two series of 26 x 22 minute episodes. Cindy’s passion and enthusiasm for what she does provides instant energy and clarity.. With Cindy at the voice directing helm, it is one pre-production thing I never have to worry about.
